List Reveals Over 200 Female Idols Are Victims of Deepfake Videos R-19 — Fandoms Horrified

A list of over 200 K-pop idols, including minors, has been discovered on X to have been the victims of deepfake sex crimes in South Korea.

In early August, South Korea attracted widespread attention both domestically and internationally after the “New Nth Room” scandal broke.

In particular, Korean men and students have been caught sharing deepfake porn in Telegram chat rooms to humiliate women, classmates, and family members. These videos have been used to blackmail victims into real sexual favors, abuse, and other atrocious acts.

The phenomenon of deepfakes is a source of great concern worldwide, especially in South Korea, where sex offenders digitally alter pornographic content using the faces or bodies of their victims.

In light of this terrible controversy, international K-pop fandoms have taken to X to raise awareness of sex crimes in Korea and have released a list of deepfake porn sites that target female idols.

On one of the listed websites, it was discovered that over 200 female idols have been victims of R-19 Deepfake videos.

Looking at the sites, the videos of the victims were sorted by name, in alphabetical order. You could see female idols from the first to the fifth generation, and the most disgusting thing is that they also included minors.

Some sites were updated daily, which shows that these crimes are still occurring today.

When these lists were shared on X, K-pop fandoms were shocked and nauseated by the overwhelming videos and photos created for each member. NewJeans Minji alone has over 17,000 R-19 deepfake content on one platform alone.

With this, the K-pop community comes together to raise this alarming issue with their agencies in an attempt to prevent worse-case scenarios and take action against these sites as well.

Fandoms are currently sending out mass emails and creating trending hashtags to get the attention of authorities.

Meanwhile, while the R-19 deepfake victims were discovered to be female idols, over 200 male idols are also said to be involved in the “New Nth Room” case.

This speculation arose after media outlet Pitch One mentioned the original “nth room” in 2020, which was attended by politicians, celebrities, athletes, and many Korean men.

The sexual crime allegations leveled against Taeil also became a major factor in spreading rumors that the idol might be involved in this case, and more.

Bangbae Police later clarified that the scandal had nothing to do with Taeil. However, the information about the male idols included in “New Nth Room” has yet to be verified.
