Lisa’s ‘New Woman’ Outfit Accused of Plagiarism, Fashion Brand Steps Up to Defend It

Recently, Lisa collaborated with Spanish singer RosalĂa and released the single “New Woman”, captivating fans with her stunning visuals and flawless and seductive figure. In particular, the idol aroused enthusiasm among fans by wearing a dress from a brand called LSEOU.

The feathered top worn by Lisa is called L’IMPÉRATRICE and is part of LSEOUL’s premium line, EMERGENCI BY LSEOUL, which debuted in the Incomparable collection in May of this year. The top is priced at $5,000 and is currently available on the brand’s official website.

However, a few days ago, designer Kateryna Chyrka posted a video on TikTok accusing Lisa’s top of being a copy of her design. Specifically, Kateryna said that in early May 2024, she reached out to LSEOUL to propose a collaboration, but the brand did not respond to her message.

Kateryna Chyrka, the designer who accused LSEOUL of plagiarism, claimed that later in May, LSEOUL held a large fashion show to launch her Incomparable collection, which included the L’IMPÉRATRICE design worn by Lisa in her “New Woman” music video. In her view, Kateryna believes that LSEOUL plagiarized her idea, as she had previously designed a similar feather-inspired crop top with long sleeves for her graduation collection. Her video has since garnered nearly 1 million views on TikTok.

Amid the ongoing controversy, LSEOUL released a statement refuting the plagiarism allegations.

A brand representative said: “Fashion is about inheritance and development, with ever-changing trends. In addition, feather material has been used in fashion for a long time. Many renowned fashion houses around the world have employed this material. Even in Vietnam, goose feathers appeared in the legend of My Chau – Trong Thuy, and this material has been used in many famous designs. Our design team and craftsmen at LSEOUL also consider feather material as one of their sources of inspiration for their designs. Therefore, we once again state that LSEOUL has not plagiarized or copied the ideas of designer Kateryna Chyrka.”

Regarding the claim that the designer sent them a message for a collaboration but was ignored, LSEOUL provided a detailed explanation. However, due to legal reasons, the brand does not want to publish the entire exchange of messages between the two parties at this time.

It is known that Kateryna’s first message to LSEOUL on May 7 consisted of just one question: “Hi, would you like to collaborate?Furthermore, he did not include any specific images or suggestions.

Because LSEOUL did not know who owned the account and the vague offer of collaboration, he chose not to respond. Kateryna sent a second message on August 18 (after Lisa’s music video was released), accusing LSEOUL of plagiarism. She also demanded compensation and a public apology, threatening to take the matter to social media or involve lawyers if her demands were not met.

Regarding the timeline of the product creation, LSEOUL clarified that although the Incomparable collection debuted on May 17, the feather top worn by Lisa was conceived and created 2 months earlier. Specifically, LSEOUL completed the design sketch on February 24. On March 23 and April 22, LSEOUL conducted fitting sessions with models.

LSEOUL has not only provided evidence and refuted the foreign designer’s allegations, but is also in contact with Kateryna Chyrka to resolve the matter, urging her to be more cautious in her statements to avoid influencing LSEOUL’s customers, especially Lisa.

“As a brand, a professional fashion entity favored by many big stars around the world, we will not respond to these unfounded claims via messages. This is an action that we do not appreciate. We are ready to wait and respond to your official information via email. Therefore, Kateryna Chyrka’s claim that LSEOUL ignored her messages or disrespected her is not accurate“, THE declared brand.

“To clarify the brand’s position, we also ask designer Kateryna Chyrka to be cautious in her statements, especially those regarding Lisa. Over the years of brand development, customer rights and experience have always been LSEOUL’s top priority. Lisa is a customer of LSEOUL, so we hope that any concerns will be addressed directly to us without involving Lisa in any situation,” stressed the representative of the LSEOUL.
