Lee Suhyun Clears Up Debate Over AKMU Work Contributions, Admits Lee Chanhyuk Handles ‘90%’

Variety on the web on April 3rd Gangho neighborhood bookstore featured AKMU members Lee Suhyun and Lee Chanhyuk as guests, where they had a candid conversation with host Kang Ho Dong.

During the episode, Lee Suhyun reflected on their early days before Lee Chanhyuk’s military enlistment. He shared, “My brother really does a lot, but at the time I don’t think I fully realized how much he was doing.”

He continued, “At the time, I probably thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be about 50-50 between us?’ Without really knowing anything, my brother enlisted and I had to fill the gap on my own. So I confidently declared, ‘I should make my own album, too,’ and moved on, but that wasn’t the case,” he admitted, eliciting a laugh.

He added, “I realized, ‘Ah, I was arrogant. I don’t have the ability to produce.’ I thought that if I put in the effort, I could easily compose like my brother, but then I realized, “It’s not like that.” I’ve learned that I have my own strengths and can’t naturally do what my brother excels at. It was quite shocking. In fact, my brother did about 90% of the work.”

Meanwhile, Lee Chanhyuk also spoke about the difficult period when his sister struggled with a crisis. He recalled, “It seemed as if Suhyun was left all alone.”

In response, Lee Suhyun revealed, “There was a time when I said I thought I should leave AKMU,” surprising many with his honesty.

Lee Chanhyuk then shared a heartfelt memory, saying: “Even if you fell into a deep pit, I would hold your hand and jump in with you.” Remembering this moment once again during the show left a lasting emotional impact on viewers.
