Lee Seung Gi is currently facing criticism for its treatment of the survival show’s trainees.
Starlight Boysan ongoing South Korean and Chinese boy group survival show, recently premiered via iQIYI AND SBS on October 26, 2024. Sixty-nine male competitors around the world are currently competing for a place in the final top 9.
While Lee Sung Kyoung is the MC, Lee Seung GiBIGBANG’s Daesung, Choi Youngjoon, Hanhae, Kwon Eun Bi, Pentagon’s Hui, THE BOYZ’s Eric, AND Yoon from STAYC they are judges (called “Drivers”).
During the latest episode, the trainees faced a challenge that shocked many viewers. To narrow down the number of trainees, they were challenged to dance to the cue song, with the final selected contestants dancing almost continuously for an hour.

Around the 12th round, when many of the trainees began to show tiredness, Lee Seung Gi commented that they couldn’t be tired yet.
When intern Sun Yinghao calls began to stop the competition as the number of laps danced approached 20, Lee Seung Gi spoke to the trainees in general, saying that while he understood Yinghao’s point of view, the challenge was issued to show the trainees who would “work hard.“
He also likened the situation to a concert, saying it would take away the audience’s “right” to see a singer’s “passionate” performance.
In addition to his actions during this challenge, some have criticized him for allegedly targeting BAE173 Hangyul. Fans pointed out his supposedly more “aggressive” judgment of Hangyul than that of the other trainees.

Hook Entertainment’s mistreatment of Lee Seung Gi led to the Lee Seung Gi Accident Prevention Law, which requires companies to disclose earnings details to celebrities at least once a year and provides additional protections for underage celebrities.
This probably also fueled more criticism aimed at him since some of the trainees are minors.

After watching this episode and the signal song mission… I’m afraid this is one of the WORST shows I’ve ever seen. Judge Lee Seung Gi tries to justify himself by talking about concerts etc… how pathetic!!! As if we’ve never seen an idol sell out on stage #StarlightBoys
