On MBC’s January 8th broadcast “Where is my home”Lee Sang-yeob finally opened up about his wife’s profession 10 months after their marriage during a segment focusing on Korea’s financial hub, Yeouido.
To kick off the new year, the cast traveled to Yeouido to explore the area and discuss the economic outlook for 2026. Before the outing, the panelists talked about their experiences trading stocks. Lee Sang-yeob jokingly confessed: “I’ve never made a profit. Every time I buy, it goes down; when I sell, it goes up.”
In contrast, Yang Se-chan, Yang Se-hyung and Jang Dong-min shared that they are doing quite well in stocks, prompting agreement that comedians might have a knack for trading.
During a coffee break with Jang Dong-min and Joo Woo-jae, Jang raised a popular curiosity that Lee’s wife works in the financial industry. Lee clarified, “It’s not exactly stocks. He works in project financing, raising capital for specific projects. Because of his job, he can’t trade stocks – it’s one of those professions where stock trading is restricted.”
Joo Woo-jae jokingly suggested, “So it gives you inside information,” to which Lee responded, “If that were true, I would have made money.”
Financial expert and author Park Min-soo, also featured on the show, explained: “Employees of securities firms may trade in their own names, but must regularly report this to the firm. Certain professions, particularly those with access to inside company information, are prohibited from trading entirely. Sharing non-public information in private is illegal.”
Lee Sang-yeob’s candid and lighthearted revelation about his wife’s profession gave fans a rare glimpse into his personal life and sparked curiosity about the couple’s behind-the-scenes dynamic.
