Lee Min-ho Receives Rave Reviews from US Media for ‘Pachinko 2’

The second season of the Apple TV+ series “Pachinko,” based on the New York Times best-selling novel of the same name, is attracting enormous attention. The show delicately portrays the hopes and dreams of a Korean immigrant family, and Lee Min-ho plays the character of Koh Hansu, a businessman who emerges from poverty and adversity, adding depth to the series.

As Lee Min-ho reprises his role from season 1, playing a man caught between love and ambition, international media continues to focus on his performance. Major American media outlets such as Forbes, AP News, USA Today, The Hollywood Reporter, Collider, Korea Times US and Vogue have shown interest in the second season of Pachinko, featuring interviews with the actor.

In particular, Forbes praised Lee Min-ho’s acting, stating that the actor’s instinctive performance beautifully captures Koh Hansu’s dark inner turmoil, his power struggle, and the frustration of longing for something unattainable. The outlet also described the actor’s role as his “best performance” to date.

Meanwhile, Collider, a major film media outlet, highlighted Lee Min-ho’s ability to stray from his usual K-drama roles, stating that Lee Min-ho took a completely different direction with Koh Hansu, but naturally mixed with the character.

Lee Min-ho also conducted interviews with various US media outlets. In a feature for Vogue, she showed a more relaxed and approachable side by sharing the contents of her bag for the “What’s in My Bag” segment. In other interviews, he discussed his approach to acting and the challenges of his role.

As for how he approaches his characters, Lee Min-ho explained, “I always start by considering what shortcomings the character faces. Koh Hansu is one of the most repressed and disadvantaged characters I’ve ever played, so the range of emotions I could express was very wide and deep.

This seems to have allowed Lee Min-ho to bring even more depth to his portrayal of the character.

Lee Min-ho’s authentic and nuanced performance, which captures the passage of time from the 1930s to the story’s sequel in season two, has garnered praise from viewers around the world.

Meanwhile, the final episode of Pachinko season 2 will be released on Apple TV+ on October 11.
