The actor mentioned the car accident he experienced in the past. He shared, “The incident made headlines at the time. The accident was fatal and all the passengers in the other car responsible for the accident died. I was hospitalized for a year.”
Yoo Jae-suk commented, “I heard that the accident happened while you and Jung Il-woo were traveling together. The driver of the other car was drunk and crossed the center line causing the accident,” adding “Jung Il-woo talked about it.”
Lee Min-ho confessed: “Il-woo was seriously injured. We had just turned 20 then, the age when you have so many dreams and things you want to achieve. But we had to stop everything unexpectedly. I went through all kinds of emotions, including denial, anger, sadness, and then acceptance. It was like a roller coaster of emotions.”
While Lee Min-ho was still being treated in the hospital, Jung Il-woo had already been discharged and gained popularity with “High Kick”. When asked if he had mixed emotions seeing his friend doing well while in the hospital, Lee Min-ho said, “I hated that feeling too. I wanted to support him, but I couldn’t do it wholeheartedly and I was a little impatient,” adding “I also wanted to be recognized and get my name out there quickly. I even asked myself if I could congratulate my friend 100%.”
Meanwhile, Lee Min-ho broke his thighs and ankles in a car accident while traveling with his best friend, actor Jung Il-woo, and underwent major surgery in 2006. A that time, Jung Il-woo was hospitalized for 4.5 months while Lee Min-ho remained in the hospital for a year.
