On the December 25 broadcast of tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block,” actor Lee Min-ho appeared as a guest and shared the reason for his first appearance on a variety show in 16 years.
Upon his arrival, Lee Min-ho joked: “Do you mind if I take off my jacket?” and hung it on a fishing chair, making those around him laugh. He observed, “This chair is really small,” prompting Yoo Jae Suk to joke, “I think you wanted to hang your jacket there,” causing even more laughter.
Yoo Jae-suk commented, “This is the first time I’ve seen you on a variety show.” Lee Min-ho responded that it was indeed his first appearance on a variety show in 16 years, adding: “In addition to appearing as a newcomer in Star Golden Bell, this is the first time,” which brought more laughter. Then he joked, “People these days probably don’t even know Star Golden Bell.”
Lee Min-ho said he had trouble sleeping the night before, “I was worried I might cause problems. Honestly, I wasn’t sure how I was going to do it,” prompting laughter from the hosts.
As for why he avoided variety shows in the past, he explained: “Back then, variety shows like 1 Night 2 Days and Infinite Challenge had very intense, character-driven formats. They seemed too competitive.”
He elaborated, “I thought that just because I was somewhat known, if I joined those shows, I wouldn’t be able to match their intensity.” He added, “Later, there were more healing-themed variety shows, but my life was already so focused on healing that I wondered if I could really help others heal. You Quiz felt very relaxed, like sharing a cup of tea,” explaining why he appeared on the show.
Looking at Jo Se-ho, Lee Min-ho remembered, “I happened to meet you at a private meeting before you got married.” Jo Se-ho added, “You came with Hyo-jin,” remembering the meeting. Lee Min-ho mentioned, “You gave me some premium liquor.” Yoo Jae-suk asked jokingly: “Why do Hallyu stars always end up paying for other people’s meals?” making everyone laugh.
