Lee Jung-HyunThe actress and multitizing singer, offered a deeply personal look in her past during the 26th Jeonju International Film Festival. At the press conference for his Spotlight program “Programmer of the Year: Lee Jung-Hyun”, held on May 2nd at the Jeonju Jungbu Vision Center, he reflected on the paradox of his twenty 1920s but emotionally.
“I received the most spotlight during my 20 years as a singer”, Lee began. “Fans followed me wherever I went, but that was the most miserable moment in my life.”
The pop icon transformed into an actress revealed that it was like a “car to sing”, working until 11 programs per daybreathing barely under the weight of its popularity. It was not until she reached 40 and started to pursue the acting that has finally found peace more seriously.
Remembering his early university years, he admitted, “At the time I was active as a singer, but my perspective was tight and I was immature.” Now a mother, Lee has said that motherhood and age have enriched her vision of the world, to the point that she felt inspired by returning to the narrative.
That inspiration led her to direct the Short movies of 28 minutes “Tunies-Thust Tunes” (Go to the flower)in which he also recited and produced. By describing the demanding process, Lee shared, “I was the director, the leading actress, the member of the youngest staff of the production team, the deputy director and even part of the Department of Costumes. I would be ironed with costumes for the actors in support and suddenly fled when someone called.”
Through experience, he acquired a profound appreciation for the many unknown heroes behind the camera. “I came to really understand how many efforts they commit themselves to making a single film”, he said.
Born in 1980, Lee Jung-Hyun He made his debut with the 1996 film A petal. In 1999, he shot fame as a pop singer with the successful track “Wa”. Later he moved on to a successful film career, with works like Night fishing, Alice in Earnestland, The island of the battleshipAND Peninsula.
Now, Lee is not only an artist, but as a creative force, one who has found his real voice beyond the spotlight.
