Lee Jae-ryong caught on video fleeing after drunk driving and crashing into guardrail

South Korean actor Lee Jae Ryong is under police investigation following an alleged drunk driving accident in which he reportedly crashed into a road barrier and fled the scene.

According to reports released by entertainment channel Dispatch, the accident occurred around 11.03pm on March 6 near the intersection near Cheongdam Station in Seoul.

After turning right at the intersection, Lee’s vehicle reportedly collided with the center guardrail of a six-lane road. Instead of stopping, the actor continued to drive, dragging and damaging the guardrail for more than 10 meters before leaving the scene.

Witness footage from the site reportedly shows debris from the damaged barrier strewn across the roadway.

Authorities later located Lee about three hours after the incident at a friend’s house. When police took a test, his blood alcohol concentration was reportedly at a level that could have led to a license suspension.

Initially, Lee reportedly denied drinking at the time of the crash, claiming he had not consumed alcohol prior to the crash.

The police are now preparing to arrest him on charges of violating the traffic law. Investigators also intend to analyze CCTV footage and apply the Widmark formula to estimate the man’s blood alcohol level at the time of the crash.

The case attracted further attention because Lee has previously been involved in alcohol-related controversies. In 2003, his driving license was revoked after he refused a breathalyzer test following a drunk-driving accident. He was also involved in another alcohol-related incident in 2019, when he damaged a sign outside a bowling alley while drunk.

Police are expected to summon Lee for further questioning as the investigation continues.
