On January 2, a video titled “Lee Byung-hun explains the climactic scene 001 and In-ho | Squid Game Season 2 | Netflix” was uploaded to “Netflix Korea“YouTube channel.
In the video, Lee Byung-hun discussed the behind-the-scenes stories of his character In-ho. He described In-ho as a person who has long lost all attachment to life, saying: “The idea of holding on to life disappeared for him. Even if he were to die right now, it wouldn’t be a significant change. He feels like someone who is alive but doesn’t feel alive.”
Lee Byung-hun recalled: “Although I was part of the first season, stepping into the role of participant this time felt very unusual and strange. It was a special feeling and I remember needing some time to adjust.”
Regarding the complexity of his character, he explained: “Young-il is a character with three names: Front Man, In-ho and Young-il. He’s incredibly multifaceted. When he talks about his past, he momentarily becomes the previous In-ho. Secret infiltrator Front Man reflects Young-il’s false identity, and the time Front Man spends playing the game is all about deciding where the emphasis lies.”
He added: “For me, the crux and detail I had to focus on while acting was balancing the weight between the transformed self as Front Man and the more human self that he was before experiencing all these events. Fine-tuning these aspects of the character was essential.“
Meanwhile, the second season of Netflix’s “Squid Game” centers on a fierce clash between Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae), who returns to the game seeking revenge, and Front Man (played by Lee Byung-jae). hun), who awaits him.
