Yoon Byung Hobetter known to fans as Bastard Bully from the popular TV show High school rapper 2received a new suspended sentence after authorities discovered he was illegally using prescription drugs while detained at the Incheon Detention Center.
The 23-year-old artist, who was already facing serious drug charges, was found to have consumed unauthorized psychotropic drugs, including diazepam, lorazepam and zolpidem, during his detention in August 2022. When questioned, Yoon maintained his innocence, suggesting that someone had secretly drugged him without his knowledge. The court rejected this defense, noting that it was highly unlikely that anyone would be inadvertently drugged within the secure facility.
The Suwon District Court handed down a sentence of eight months’ imprisonment, two years’ suspension and mandatory attendance at drug prevention conferences. The presiding judge acknowledged the seriousness of using illegal substances while already on trial for drug offences, but considered mitigating circumstances in sentencing.
This latest conviction adds to Yoon’s existing legal problems. The former TV star is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence (confirmed in December 2023) for multiple drug-related offenses from 2018 to 2022. These charges included the purchase, possession and use of various illegal substances, from marijuana to drug. fentanyl and methamphetamine.
The case has attracted much attention in South Korea, where drug crimes are treated with particular severity and public figures are held to high standards of conduct.
