The viral posts sparked heated reactions.
A growing number of Korean men are calling for a boycott of the iconic British band Oasis after viral posts on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) highlighted the Gallagher brothers’ perceived feminist beliefs. These calls have sparked a heated debate online, with some supporting the boycott while others scoff at the idea.
The controversy began after Oasis announced their highly anticipated comeback tour. The tour is expected to hit cities across the UK and other global destinations, including a stop in Seoul (though the exact date and location remain unconfirmed). Following the announcement, posts calling on men to boycott the band quickly gained traction, with several viral tweets racking up thousands of likes.

One widely shared post features a screenshot of Noel Gallagher appearing to make the infamous gesture that some have controversially associated with feminists mocking the size of Korean men’s genitals. Although the gesture seems taken out of context, it has fueled outrage among some Korean men.
Noel Gallagher is a Megalia [feminist online community and movement] supporter. Men, let’s boycott ticket sales. Let’s show those feminists what we’re made of. [repeated]

In another post that went viral, a video clip shows Noel discussing how he came to realize that he identified as a feminist. He explains that during a conversation with his wife and friends, they emphasized his feminist beliefs based on his belief that men and women should be treated equally. Noel jokingly admits that he wasn’t aware of it until then.
There was a conversation about feminism and I thought, “Feminism, whatever…” Then my wife said, “But you’re a feminist,” and I’d never thought of it that way. She listed all the reasons why I was a feminist: because I see women as equals and I don’t see the difference between the two.

Noel then says: “I didn’t realize I was until I was pestered by six drunk women around a table, telling me, “Actually, you are.” And I was like, “Oh, okay.”“
Adding to the backlash, some users also drew attention to an old tweet in which Liam Gathelagher celebrated International Women’s Day and recognized its feminist position.
A viral post from a Korean user of X (formerly known as Twitter) asks others to remember that Liam is also a feminist.
Liam Gallagher is also a feminist, you all haven’t forgotten that, have you? She celebrated International Women’s Day and openly admitted that she is a feminist, so don’t forget that.

Despite calls for a boycott, many Korean women and feminists have ridiculed the movement, some even joking that it would be easier to secure tickets to the Seoul concert if the boycott was successful. What do you think of the boycott? You can comment on our social media post below!
