Famous Korean actor Ahn Sung-ki, often called the nation’s most respected “national actor”, was rushed to hospital in critical condition after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest, multiple Korean media reported on Dec. 31.
Local media reported that Ahn Sung-ki collapsed at his home while eating and was immediately taken to the emergency room. Upon arrival, medical staff reportedly performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before transferring him to the intensive care unit (ICU). He is said to remain in critical condition as of the latest update.
Ahn Sung-ki was previously diagnosed with blood cancer in 2019, a condition that sparked public concern at the time. Although he has continued to engage in limited activity since then, it has not yet been confirmed whether his previous illness is directly related to his current medical emergency.
