Many actors have temporarily suspended their promotional schedules for new projects. The new episode of tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block,” which features Song Hye-kyo’s return to TV shows for the first time in 17 years, canceled its broadcast on January 1. The actress decided to appear on this entertainment program to promote her new film “Dark Nuns”, but the broadcast was postponed until next week.
Actor Song Joong-ki was also supposed to carry out promotional activities for the release of his new film “Bogota”, but the event was also cut short. Notably, his appearance on the JTBC show “Please Take Care of My Refrigerator 2” has also been rescheduled for next week.
Previously, YouTube channel “TEO” also postponed the scheduled release of Song Joong-ki and Lee Hee-joon’s episode “Salon Drip 2” on December 31st to next week, 6 PM on January 7th. Song Joong-ki was also supposed to appear on SBS PowerFM “Park Ha-sun’s Cinetown” with Lee Hee-joon but the radio broadcast was also cancelled.
Additionally, the year-end awards ceremonies of the three major broadcasters were also canceled and suspended until the end of the national mourning period. The broadcasts of MBC’s “Radio Star”, Channel A’s “Men’s Life These Days: Groom’s Class” and TV Chosun’s “Miss 3” on January 1 have all been cancelled.
Singers and music industry workers also joined in the national mourning. Singers Jo Yong-pil, Kim Jang-hoon, Lee Seung-hwan, Tei and Ali have canceled and temporarily stopped their concerts. Many other music concerts featuring K-pop stars were also cancelled.
On the other hand, Lim Young-woong decided to continue his concert at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul as scheduled from January 2 to 4. The singer’s agency posted an ad on Fancafe on December 31, saying “After careful consideration, we have decided to proceed with the concert as scheduled to keep the promise made to the fans who have been waiting for the event for a long time, and also to all the staff who have worked hard to prepare the performances.”
Not long ago, Lim Young-woong was criticized for his ignorance of public sentiment towards the president’s impeachment. This time he once again disappointed the public by continuing entertainment activities despite the national mourning period.
Meanwhile, a shocking accident occurred on December 29, 2024 when a Jeju Air plane crashed at Muan International Airport, resulting in the deaths of 179 out of 181 passengers. Acting President of Korea Choi Sang-mok announced the national mourning period until midnight on January 4th.
