Korea horrified as a disabled girl for development forced to undress from classmates, still in the same class

June 18, JTBC Head of the crime He reported that a second grade girl with intellectual disabilities in Changwon, Gyeongsangn-do, was forced by classmates to undress, causing her serious emotional discomfort.

The accident came to light on April 10 when the school’s special education teacher contacted the girl’s parents, claiming to have taken off his pants at school. The video of the CCTV later revealed that two classmates had repeatedly pressing him near a shoe and in the playground, saying things like ,, “Take off my pants and I’ll give you candies.” When he initially refused, they tried to attract it with promises of multiple delicacies, finally leading to his changing. They further derived it by instructing it to imitate phrases like, “Am I cute?”

Testing by almost a dozen peers, the accident left the victim and his parents traumatized. The father reported the accident to the committee for the countermeasure of school violence, which established on May 16 that the authors had to:

  1. Do not approach, threaten or avenge against the victim (measure 2),
  2. Transfer to another school (measure 8),
  3. Complete six hours of special education with their parents.

A parent respected and transferred his child, but the other has filed an administrative cause to overturn the sentence. Since the school has only one class by vote, the child remains in the same class as the victim during the current legal process.

Adding to indignation, the parent who appealed to the decision collected petitions that claim his son “is not that type of person”. In the meantime, said the victim’s mother, “From the accident, my daughter suffered from stress, wetting the bed at night. I too have been deeply traumatized and I’m suffering a psychiatric treatment and taking drugs.”

In the meantime, said an official of the educational office, “We applied a separation measure for over a month after the accident, but the prolonged separation could raise concerns about the right to author’s education.”

This disturbing case highlights the urgent need for stronger protections for vulnerable students and a faster action against school bullying, especially when it involves sexual coercion. Schools and authorities must give priority to the safety of victims with respect to bureaucratic obstacles, guaranteeing responsibility and preventing further damage.
