Starting from Act 1, the story of AE soon (IU) and Gwan Sik (Park Bo Gum) take place with a love, the marriage and the narration of childbirth. The series tells their journey from youth through joys and pains until they become a middle -aged spouses, represented by the Moon so Ri and Park Hae Joon, during four acts.
From act 3, the spotlights move to the eldest daughter Geum Myeong (also played by IU), who soon and Gwan Sik has grown with immense love and care. Geum Myeong is accepted in Soul National University and starts going out with Park Yeong-Bum (Lee Jun Young), a man of a successful family.
Although the two share a long relationship that even suggests marriage, in the end they cannot be together.
Then he enters Chungseop (Kim Seon Ho), a man who expresses love through actions rather than words – soon evoking the memories of AE and the simple and unwavering love of Gwan Sik in his youth.
Despite his difficulties, Chungseop does anything to protect Geum Myeong. It appears for the first time in act 3 with long hair and a beard as a painter of wagons, but returns to act 4 with a transformed appearance, creating an explosive response.
