In a recent interview at a panel discussion held at a bar in Seoul’s Gangnam neighborhood, Kim Sejeong spoke openly about watching her former gugudan bandmate, Mimi, enter married life. Mimi, born in 1993, married MBLAQ member Thunder in May 2024, becoming gugudan’s first married member.
“I don’t think Mimi Unnie is following a completely different path than me,” Kim Singer shared. “Even after marriage, she continues to show her life to the public and receives love and support. She loves music, continues album activities and also got married.”
Kim added that seeing Mimi balance her marriage and career made her think about her future. “I think one day I will go down the same path. Since she has already taken those steps before me, if I ever get married, I feel like I will ask a lot of her,” he admitted with a smile.
Kim Sejeong recently wrapped up his role as Park Dal on MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama The moon flows over the Yi River. The historical fantasy novel, which revolves around a crown prince who has lost his laughter and a soul-swapped merchant, marked his first role as a sageuk. Despite concerns about ratings pressure, especially after MBC’s run of underperforming dramas, the series ended on a high note, peaking at 6.8% viewership in its finale.

From its debut in 2016 until Produce 101where she placed second overall, Kim Sejeong has steadily built a diverse career across music and acting. Reflecting on her journey, Kim Sejeong became introspective. “I spent the last 10 years trying to fill what I was missing. I wanted to grow and achieve so much that sometimes I lacked the love for what I already had.” he confessed.

He added that entering his 30s has changed his mindset. “I realized that there is no such thing as perfection. Instead of focusing on what I’m missing, I want to focus on what makes me happy right now and live fully in the present.”
While she doesn’t regret the hardships of her past, Kim believes those experiences have shaped who she is today. “Through all the trials and errors, I have become stronger. From now on, I want to become someone who enjoys every moment with more ease and flexibility.”
