Actress Kim Sae-ron was spotted on a movie set, marking her return to acting after her DUI incident.
According to the Korea Times on October 21, Kim Sae-ron was spotted filming at Tapgol Park in Jongno-gu, Seoul. She looked cheerful in a white dress and her co-star is said to be a novice actor.
The film starring Kim Sae-ron is a low-budget musical film directed by Shin Jae-ho, known for his work in the original film “Ditto” starring Yoo Ji-tae and Kim Ha-neul, and the 2004 film ” 100 Days with Mr. Arrogant.”
A production representative said: “It is true that Kim Sae-ron is part of the cast, but we cannot reveal further details at this time” expressing a cautious attitude.
Kim Sae-ron rose to fame as a child prodigy in films such as “The Man from Nowhere” and “Brand New Life.” He has continued to have an active career across dramas and films, but his DUI accident in 2022 caused considerable controversy.
At the time, Kim Sae-ron was caught driving while intoxicated in Gangnam, Seoul. It collided with a guardrail, a tree and a transformer, causing a temporary power outage in nearby shops and streetlights, disturbing citizens. Kim Sae-ron refused a breathalyzer test but requested a blood test, which revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.2% (a level that warrants license revocation), leading to the revocation of his license . She was fined 20 million won in court.
In May this year, Kim Sae-ron attempted to return to acting through the show Dongchimi, but negative public opinion led to her withdrawal. She was also reportedly seen working at a bar during her break.
On the other hand, drunk driving has been a topic of interest in Korean entertainment as many celebrities have ruined their careers due to this crime. More recently, BTS’ Suga, who faced a drink-driving fine, has been targeted by several funeral wreaths calling for his departure from the group. He also faced death threats following a similar scandal.
