Kim Minju remembers first love: “I secretly watched him play basketball”

In the episode published on March 10 on the YouTube channel Salon dripPark Jinyoung and Kim Minju appeared as guests to promote their drama Still shining.

While talking about Still shiningwhich revolves around a first love romance, the two actors naturally started sharing stories from their school days.

Park Jinyoung first reflected on himself as a young man, describing his dating style at the time. “When I was younger, I was completely clueless,” he admitted. “The girl I liked said she liked lollipops, so every morning I bought one and gave it to her when we went to school.” Hearing this, host Jang Do Yeon and Kim Minju burst into laughter as they told the story “Cute.”

Kim Minju also shared a sweet memory from her school days. “When I was in my first or second year of middle school, there was a boy I liked” he recalled. “He was good at studying and also very good at basketball.”

However, because she felt shy, she could never approach him directly. Kim Minju explained: “Every lunch break he played basketball, but I was too embarrassed to stand in front and watch. So instead of having lunch in the cafeteria, I bought bread from the school store and ate it while looking at the courtyard.” He added, “I watched him play basketball while I ate my bread.”

She also worked hard in her studies thanks to him. “Our classes were divided into A, B and C based on grades, and he was in class A,” he said. “So I remember trying really hard in math because I wanted to get into A.”

Host Jang Do Yeon then asked: “So he still doesn’t know that you liked him back then?” Kim Minju replied shyly, “I don’t think he knows.”

Park Jinyoung joked, “There’s no way he could know that,” pretending to secretly observe someone from afar. Jang Do Yeon also imitated the act of eating bread while secretly looking at someone, which filled the studio with laughter.

Jang Do Yeon commented, “How nice it would be if that person knew that someone was looking at them so lovingly like that.” Kim Minju reflected: “It was a little painful at the time, but when I think about it now, it was such a pure and innocent memory.”

Their stories about first love during their school days connected perfectly with the theme of their drama, bringing both laughter and relatability.

In the meantime, Still shining is JTBC’s new Friday drama series that tells the story of young people who share their world and gradually become each other’s faith and guiding light in life. The drama airs at 8.50pm
