Kim Junsu Breaks into All 3 Terrestrial Networks After 17 Years with SBS’s “My Little Old Boy”

According to Star News on January 7, Kim Junsu participated as a studio guest in the taping of the popular SBS variety show My Little Old Boy, with the episode scheduled to air on January 18.

Kim Junsu is currently starring in the musical Beetlejuice, released on December 16, 2025, and is expected to share stories from his daily life along with his signature witty and laid-back speech on the show. His appearance is attracting particular attention as it marks his first appearance on an SBS entertainment program since his contract dispute with former agency SM Entertainment nearly two decades ago.

After debuting in 2003 as a member of TVXQ, Kim Junsu filed for an injunction to terminate his exclusive contract with SM Entertainment in 2009, leading to a protracted legal battle. After his departure from the group, he debuted again in 2010 as part of JYJ and began building a successful career as a musical actor. Despite his popularity, appearances on land-based variety shows remained largely out of reach for many years.

That barrier has gradually disappeared. In 2024, Kim Junsu appeared in KBS 2TV’s The Return of Superman and MBC’s Half-Star Hotel on Lost Island. With his upcoming appearance on My Little Old Boy, he has now completed appearances on KBS, MBC and SBS variety programs, effectively dismantling the long-standing wall that once kept him away from terrestrial entertainment shows.

Kim Junsu returns the Superman

Kim Junsu continues to focus on his music career and is currently performing on the Beetlejuice stage. Meanwhile, My Little Old Boy is a long-running SBS program that looks at the daily lives of famous sons through the perspective of their mothers and airs every Sunday at 9pm.
