Kim Hyun Joong Talks Openly About Past Assault Controversy and KRW 1.6 Billion Lawsuit on ‘Grade B Hearing’

A new episode of the YouTube channel on February 27th “Grade B Study” titled “The biggest sleeper star of all time⭐appeared│B-grade hearing RE:BOOT EP.14” was released. Kim Hyun Joong appeared together with Park Hyo Joon and shared updates about his life and career.

During the broadcast, the hosts cautiously brought up the previous dispute over the singer-actor’s assault, noting that comments about the incident would inevitably surface. In response, Kim Hyun Joong acknowledged, “There was a little assault dispute. I got involved in an assault dispute.” He clarified that the situation involved pushing and that it was legally classified as an assault. “In a pushy situation, they say that’s assault too. Because I admitted it, it was 5 million won.” he explained, referring to the fine he received.

Kim Hyun Joong said he accepted the KRW 5 million fine at the time, but did not foresee the extent of the public reaction. “I didn’t know it would get this big” he said. The commission said publicly available legal documents later showed not guilty outcomes in related proceedings, and Kim Hyun Joong added: “It took a long time to be found not guilty.” He also noted that many people remain in the dark about the final verdict.

The conversation then turned to the civil case involving his ex-girlfriend. One of the hosts referred to reports that around KRW 1.6 billion had been requested at the time. Kim Hyun Joong replied, “I don’t know. The lawyer took care of the matter at the time.” He confirmed that the legal issues have since been resolved, saying: “Everything was resolved, but it took a long time to be found not guilty.” Reflecting on the prolonged legal battle, he concluded, “Because it took a long time, I neither gained nor lost anything.”

When asked if he felt the situation was unfair, Kim Hyun Joong responded that he doesn’t feel unfair about what happened. He explained that, as a public figure, he has come to understand that legal innocence and public perception do not always coincide.

The appearance marked one of the rare occasions he spoke in detail about the past legal dispute on a talk show, addressing the issue calmly and directly in front of viewers.
