Kep1er fans were left confused after the group company temporarily suspended member Xiaoting’s activities until December, issuing conflicting statements regarding the reason.
Korean agencies WAKEONE and KLAP Entertainment announced on Thursday that the Chinese member would be taking a break to pursue solo activities.
Xiaoting’s Chinese agency, Topclass, denied their statement, claiming that the idol’s program was verified through communication with Korean labels.
Topclass revealed that Xiaoting’s recent absence from a fan sign event was due to a decision made by the Korean agency, for undisclosed reasons.
The situation was made darker with a cryptic post shared by the girl member of the group, who posted a photo of Pinocchio, a puppet whose nose gets longer every time he lies, quickly deleting it seconds later.
Xiaoting officially addressed fans in a Bubble post, apologizing for the canceled events.
“To our beloved K3p1ian, I’m truly sorry. To the fans who were planning to come to the signing events in December, I’m sorry I made you sad and disappointed,” she wrote.
“I am so grateful to everyone [the agencies’] support, and since there are no restrictions on my activities, please don’t misunderstand, anyway, I will do my best no matter what, don’t worry.”
Kep1er, previously nine members, reorganized into a seven-member girl group in July following the departure of Mashiro and Kang Yeseo.
