KARA’s Heo Young Ji has officially left DSP Media after 10 years of collaboration. The announcement comes nearly a year after his solo debut.

On September 5, the agency released a statement confirming the termination of the exclusive contract with the artist, marking the end of an era.
“First and foremost, we would like to express our gratitude to the fans who have shown unwavering love and support for Heo Young Ji,” it read. “We would like to inform you that our exclusive contract with Heo Young Ji, who has been with us for the past 10 years through an exceptional bond of trust, has come to an end.”
“We sincerely thank Heo Young Ji for bringing positive energy both on and off stage as one of our artists, and we will continue to support her future endeavors.“, he added.
The statement concludes: “We ask for your continued love and support as Heo Young Ji embarks on a new journey.”
Heo Young Ji first rose to fame in 2014 through DSP Media’s reality show “KARA Project”created to find a new member for KARA after Nicole Jung and Kang Ji-young left the group. Despite missing two live performances due to a leg injury, Young Ji captivated the audience with his charisma and talent, ultimately winning the competition with a final score of 49,591. Her win cemented her place as KARA’s newest member and she pledged to work even harder as part of the legendary K-pop group.
After years of being with KARA and contributing to their success, Heo Young Ji made her solo debut in September 2023 with the release of her first single album “Toi Toi Toi”, featuring the title track “LOVE”.
