THE MAMA Awards is one of the biggest Korean music awards of the year. Since 1999, idols have graced the Saccept rewards for their achievements.
This year was no different, especially for SEVENTEENwhich won five awards.
Two of these prizes were daesang, or grand prizes, awarded to the first group in that category. Fans did not vote in these categories; instead, they included a mix of judges’ ratings and leaderboard performances, both digital and physical, for some categories.
SEVENTEEN won “Artist Of The Year” and “Album Of The Year” and left fans emotional with their history-making wins. The SEVENTEEN are now tied for second place TWICE for the most part wins MOM history.
However, one of SEVENTEEN’s victories has sparked some debate among netizens.
In a forum post, netizens discussed their win as “Artist of the Year” and compared their releases this year to those of another nominee, aespa.
