Recently, former VCHA member KG filed a lawsuit to terminate his contract with JYP Entertainment, while accusing the agency of abusing and mistreating their artists, even driving one VCHA member to attempt suicide.
In his lawsuit, KG cited JYP’s inhumane restrictions on members’ diets, forcing them to maintain an alarmingly thin level and only allowing them small portions of salads, even openly telling members not to eat and monitoring their meals and cooking. .
After hearing this, fans of JYP artists began discussing the glaring food order problem within the company, suspecting that the cause is nothing more than JYP’s strict dietary regimes.
Notably, the company once told TWICE’s Momo that she must lose 7kg (15lbs) in order to appear on the group’s showcase, leading the female idol to only eat ice for a week.
Meanwhile, Felix from Stray Kids once said that before a group concert, he has to go on a diet until he can see his bones. Even though the male idol later clarified that the bone part is a joke, the fact remains that he had to be on a diet.
Additionally, ITZY’s Chaeyeon also expressed wanting a pill to make her full, while ITZY’s Yuna admitted that she has symptoms of an eating disorder fixating on her diet.
Overall, fans were deeply concerned that the food culture within JYP might be too toxic and harmful to the idol, and KG’s lawsuit is clear evidence of this.
Some also pointed out that this issue not only affects JYP Entertainment, but also the entire K-pop industry as a whole.
On the other hand, JYP denied KG’s accusations and called his claims “false and exaggerated.” In this regard, KG has released a new statement, insisting that it is fully willing to support its claims with strong evidence, including photographic and physical evidence.
