GOT7 initially debuted under JYP Entertainment in 2014 where they remained until 2021 with the conclusion of their contracts. Subsequently, Jay B, worked to transfer the group’s trademarks, an unprecedented first in K-Pop. Although there has not been an open discussion about any bad relations between the members and the company, many fans have negative feelings about how the group was treated while under JYP.

The first coincidence that fans pointed out was that the pre-release was scheduled for January 6, which is Jay B’s birthday. The second is that KickFlip’s debut is set for the same day as GOT7’s long-awaited return , the first in three years.

These details, along with others like the seven-member group and the potential inclusion of martial arts in their release, seemed like unlikely coincidences to fans. Many criticized JYP, rather than KickFlip members, for seemingly “petty” behavior.

Companies are known to sometimes go to great lengths to “punish” their former idols, and it seems like GOT7 fans believe that could happen now.
