On August 30, the company released an official statement in English via TWICE’s social media channels, addressing the matter. The announcement follows the recent discovery that TWICE members, along with several other female idols, have become victims of deepfake pornography are circulating in various online chatrooms.

“We are gravely concerned about the recent spread of deepfake (AI-generated) videos involving our artists,” the statement read. “This is a clear violation of the law and we are gathering all relevant evidence to take the strongest legal action with a leading law firm, without leniency.”

“We want to make it clear that we will not stand by and watch our artists’ rights be violated and will take decisive action to address this issue to the fullest extent possible,” he concludes.

These chatrooms, originally created with the intent of humiliating and degrading women, were first brought to light earlier this month. This disturbing trend also began with the use of school chat rooms to share sexually explicit deepfake images and videos of classmates, which quickly gained widespread attention.
