Moon Ga Bi spoke out, explaining why she had gone public with her baby. He also corrected some falsehoods that were circulating.
Last month was not an easy decision, but I found the courage to let go of the past and resurrect myself as the mother of a child. The 22nd was my first birthday as a mom. I wanted to share this joyful news with those who support me and with acquaintances I can no longer reach. The biggest reason [I went public with things] it was my wish that my son should get blessings. I also wanted to be able to tell my son one day: “Mommy wanted to show you off.“
Since then, numerous articles have been published about me and the other person, including fake news and unverified content that was ruthlessly spread without confirming the facts. In such a situation, I realized that my defenseless child is the most vulnerable and hurt one in this storm. I decided to share my position for the first time to correct this problem.
I chose the path of silence for the good of all, but I was not protected. Ultimately, I decided to post a public statement on my personal social media to protect my son. The articles written without the slightest consideration for me and my son were full of unfounded speculation. The stories about me and the other person were completely distorted. Even as people whispered and pointed fingers and articles full of hurtful and cruel words clouded the joy of my first meeting with my daughter, I remained silent. This was not because I accepted those speculations, but because I wanted to protect both my son and his father.
The reported articles, along with various conjectures, have led to statements such as: “Moon Gabi had no relationship with the man, but met him a few times, became pregnant and asked for marriage for child support, but when she was refused, she gave birth without consent.” Some even said that my social media post was intended to defame him or gain something.
There are so many things I want to clarify, but I have to start with what’s most important.
Since we met in a meeting in 2022, we got to know each other better and maintained a good relationship until the last day of 2023. As of January 2024, I have not had a single face-to-face interaction with the person reported as the child’s father. I never asked him for marriage or anything because of the pregnancy. We both did our best in the relationship and together we decided to welcome this child, who came to us as a precious gift in the midst of our natural and healthy bond. There were moments filled with excitement, laughter and happiness as we waited for this baby. It’s not right to think that this child is a mistake or destined for an unhappy life just because the relationship between the two of us has changed.
This baby was born into the love and blessings of me and my family. My son is full of pure love which gives us more love in return. I had made the decision to meet this child, ready to dedicate the rest of my life to him, and that decision turned out to be the greatest gift I could have given myself.
As a mother I was clumsy and unprepared, but that was a flaw, not a mistake or transgression. This child is neither a mistake nor the result of one. I don’t seek praise for doing the natural thing to protect and take responsibility for a precious life. At the same time, I don’t deserve to be criticized. I just want the world to bless the birth of this baby, like any mother would. I sincerely hope that no more unfounded speculation or falsehoods are spread about me or my son.
