On November 30, a post titled “Official hashtag of Blue Dragon Film Awards account #BlueDragon’sSincerity #JungWooSung’sSincerity” was uploaded to various online communities such as Theqoo, attracting attention.
The post included a screenshot of a video uploaded by the Blue Dragon Film Awards’ official Instagram account, in which Jung Woo-sung publicly apologized for his scandal during the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards on November 29. The post was captioned with phrases that emphasized “sincerity.”
During the event, Jung Woo-sung, together with actor Hwang Jung-min, presented the Audience Award. While Hwang Jung-min displayed bright demeanor, Jung Woo-sung appeared visibly tense.
Before presenting the award, he spoke about his scandal, saying: “Today I am here with those who worked on “12.12: The Day” hoping that my personal issues do not leave a stain on the film. I sincerely apologize to those who loved and supported me for causing concern and disappointment. I will bear all criticism and take full responsibility as a father.”
Despite his apology, netizens remained critical, accusing him of disturbing the atmosphere with his dark behavior. Critics also targeted the Blue Dragon Film Awards for giving him a platform to apologize while neglecting a tribute for the late actress Kim Soo-mi.
In response to the backlash, the Blue Dragon Film Awards disabled comments only on Jung Woo-sung’s apology video, further fueling the outrage. Users in the online community have expressed their dissatisfaction, with comments such as: “Do they even know the meaning of sincerity?”, “If you are sincere, show it to the child’s mother instead”, “Why turn a film awards ceremony into a platform for apologizing?“…
The decision to block comments promoting “sincerity” left many questioning the integrity of the awards ceremony.
