On December 7, director Heo Chul posted on Facebook about a violent encounter he witnessed involving Cho Jin Woong during a drinking party in 2014. According to Heo, the veteran actor allegedly threw ice and physically assaulted a young actor in his 20s for not singing a requested song. The story quickly reignited attention as Internet users connected the dots, suggesting that the unnamed actor could be none other than Jung Hae In, who was already an up-and-coming lead in dramas at the time.
A viral post on Korean forums stated: “Jung Hae In didn’t know the song Cho requested, so he was hit with ice. Others had to intervene to stop him.”
Adding fuel to the fire, this rumor comes just days after Cho Jin Woong announced his retirement following public revelations of a juvenile criminal record. The actor’s agency has since declined to comment on any resurfaced incidents, citing his retreat from the public eye.
Jung Hae In’s agency has yet to respond to the growing speculation. Neither Jung nor any representative have confirmed or denied his involvement in the alleged incident.

Cho Jin Woong, known for his performances in both film and television, had cultivated a respected image. However, recent revelations – including on-set aggression towards other actors – have sparked widespread criticism. The latest claim involving Jung Hae In, now one of Korea’s most beloved leading men, is attracting even greater scrutiny.
Fans and media alike are now calling for clarity, wondering how such incidents could go unreported for so long. The resurfaced allegations of violence have triggered broader conversations about the abuse of power in the Korean entertainment industry, particularly regarding the treatment of younger actors by senior figures.
There are currently no legal proceedings or official investigations relating to the 2014 event made public. However, as netizens and the media dig deeper, the story continues to develop and the pressure for transparency is increasing.
