In a recent interview at a bar in Gangnam, Seoul, Jung Eun-chae reflected on her experience working on the tvN drama “Jeong Nyeon,” which aired its final episode on Nov. 17. The drama follows Jeongnyeoni, a natural-born vocal genius. who competes to become the best post-war Korean actress of the 1950s.

Jung Eun-chae played Moon Ok-gyeong, a mysterious and stoic character who is the main male role in a female Korean opera troupe. He shared that his biggest challenge in playing Moon Ok-gyeong was making his character convincing despite the gender differences in the role. “At first, I thought Moon Ok-gyeong should appear convincingly masculine in the drama,” he explained. “It was difficult to figure out how to express it in a natural and believable way.”

Jung Eun-chae also discussed the physical changes she made for the role, saying that she had to blend the character’s original charm with her style. He said, “I worked hard to create a character that wasn’t overly artificial but still had a neutral charm.”

The deleted kiss scene between Moon Ok-gyeong and Seo Hye-rang, revealed in an uncut script, has generated buzz online. Jung Eun-chae explained that the scene was filmed but ultimately cut in the final broadcast. He shared, “We shot all the scenes in the script, including the different versions, and I only found out how it was edited when I watched the final broadcast. After much discussion, I think the most appropriate direction for the final production has been chosen.”
