In the midst of her assault controversy, Jessi announced her departure from DOD, her fifth label. With this, K-Netz discussed whether she is really the “problem” and why she couldn’t stay under the same agency for more years.
On October 18, DOD, the parent company of the rapper’s independent label UNNI, announced its stance regarding Jessi’s future activities.
In an official statement, they confirmed that she herself terminated the contract with them:
“Hello. I’m DOD.
We would like to apologize once again for causing concern with the recent bad news.
Jessi and our company have discussed her future activities extensively, and after careful consideration, we have decided to terminate the exclusive agreement on October 18, 2024, at Jessi’s request.
We would like to express our gratitude to Jessi for being with us for a short period of time and promise that we will spare no effort to support her future.
Thank you.”
It wasn’t until September 20 that Jessi signed with the DOD to pursue independent endeavors in line with her musical style, but ultimately failed.
The reason was because she had been involved in a controversy over allegedly turning a blind eye to fan violence. The “ZOOM” singer is also facing a lawsuit for allegedly hiding the suspect and fleeing the scene of the crime.

Meanwhile, netizens are worried about the artist’s future career, wondering whether he plans to sign another partnership with a new company.
People are skeptical that it will end like his past label relationships, so they blame his behavior for not being able to stick with management for a longer period.
In 2005, he debuted with Doremi Media and left in 2009 to return to the United States. In 2014, she returned to Korea and signed with YMC Entertainment until leaving in 2019.
In the same year, she was discovered by PSY’s P Nation and only stayed there until 2022. The following year, she teamed up with Jay Park and left this year after a rumor of disagreement. Last month it signed with the DOD and launched the UNNI.
Seeing this, netizens left comments like:
- “Huh? But hasn’t it been long since she joined the label?”
- “It’s not her first time, so they’re running out of it so quickly.”
- “Why does Jessi’s contract keep expiring so soon?”
- “She is the problem because there is no way.”
- “Stop being a singer. Just don’t come out again.”
- “Just looking at the situation, you can tell that she and the producer have some kind of acquaintance.”
- “Is it a lie that the contract was terminated at the request of the singer in this notice? I saw a comment saying that the agency had cut ties with her.”
- “It looks like he will be leaving Korea soon.”
