The young fan had been attacked by someone who had been with Jessi and her friends. Jessi was seen leaving the scene as the fight escalated. He later said he did not know the attacker.
While some did not see what she had done as wrong, others denigrated her for her lack of responsibility towards the issue. The latter felt that she should not have left the scene, nor could she have tried more actively to stop her acquaintances.

Jessi appeared to be affected as she simply begged for the hate to stop. Over the past week, many have denounced the treatment he has received over the controversy. Not only did she part ways with her agency almost immediately after the controversy broke out, but she also faced questioning over the identity of the attacker.
