Jessi has always been open about the possibility of undergoing plastic surgery, but she has opened up about her unfortunate experience when she first improved her appearance.
In K-pop, idols are highly praised for having natural beauty, while those who lack it and have undergone plastic surgery suffer the hardest blow. This leads many celebrities to deny even the slightest change in their appearance to avoid negative public opinion.
When Korean-American soloist Jessi rose to fame in the 1920s, she broke this stereotype by speaking openly about her decision to undergo surgery, encouraging women to do with their bodies what they want, making them happy and confident.
Behind this sincere support for the girls, however, Jessi hid the fact that she had been the victim of a forced operation.
During her appearance on the Apple TV documentary, the “ZOOM” singer revealed that it was her agency that decided to give her a nose job.
“The first time I had surgery, I changed my nose.”
Thinking it would boost her beauty and confidence, Jessi, however, felt the exact opposite. Instead of feeling beautiful, it opened her eyes and she began to see flaws in her face that she had never noticed.

“But once they did it, I started seeing all the flaws in my face. And that’s when I started to fix things. So, before that, I wasn’t insecure. I started to become insecure after the surgery, and that’s when I lost control.”
This is where things get out of control. Instead of just getting a nose job, she also had a boob job, a double eyelid, and lip fillers. Unfortunately, the confidence boost she got from it also led her to overdo it.

What made her wake up was when she started receiving hateful comments, targeting her appearance, especially her lips.
“The first time I got lip injections, I liked them. They were, like, a good size. And then I started overdoing it.
When I got a reality check, everyone was like, ‘Wow. That looks so gross.’ And I saw it. And my lips even melted.”
Despite this, the “NUNU NANA” singer continues to maintain that women undergo plastic surgery, but it is necessary for the person to take responsibility for it and have self-control.

In her case, rather than boosting her confidence, it made her notice other flaws in her and that failing to take it could lead to addiction.
Jessi also hoped that agencies would no longer force their artists to undergo cosmetic procedures without free will. She explained:
“I think improving yourself is good. When you want to do it and someone forces you to do it, it’s completely different. You have to know your limits, you know? And it’s really hard, actually, because once you start doing the procedures, little by little, you keep finding fault with yourself, and it’s really hard to control.”
