Al 40th Gold Record Award with Upbit held at the iconic Taipei Dome in Taiwan on January 10, BLACKPINK once again demonstrated their global influence, earning a coveted spot in the ceremony’s special “Golden Disc Powerhouse 40” – a list recognizing 40 influential figures in Korean music history.
The evening, which marked a significant milestone as it was the first time the K‑pop awards were held at the Taipei Dome, was hosted by singer Sung Si‑kyung and actress Moon Ga‑young, who hosted the event with poised charm.
When asked about BLACKPINK’s inclusion in the Power plant 40 member Jennie expressed her excitement and affection for her group.
“I’m so happy the name BLACKPINK was chosen,” he said. “We will continue to strive to be artists who make a positive impact. I love my members.”
Jennie also shared a playful moment when MC Jo Jae‑je asked her the difference between “Jennie” and “Jendeuk (젠득),” her bass-enhanced nickname.
“The version of me you see right now could be Jennie.” he joked. “But Jendeuk is a little more shy and quiet,” eliciting laughter from the audience.
The awards night was filled with some of the hottest K‑pop artists of the year, including LE SSERAFIM, BoyNextDoor, Stray Kids, IVE, ATEEZ, ENHYPEN, ZEROBASEONE, TO1 and many more, amplifying the electric atmosphere of the celebration.
Popular hosts such as Song Joong‑ki, Byun Woo‑seok, and Ahn Hyo‑seop also added star power to the 40th anniversary event.
In South Korea, the ceremony was broadcast live exclusively on Naver Chijijik, while global audiences were able to tune in via PRIZM.
