Police are investigating a Japanese woman in her 50s for allegedly trying to break into BTS member Jungkook’s residence multiple times over three days earlier this month.
The Yongsan Police Station confirmed on Wednesday that the unnamed woman is being investigated for attempted housebreaking. According to authorities, the suspect repeatedly pressed the lock on the digital keypad at Jungkook’s residence in Yongsan-gu between last Wednesday, November 12, and Friday evening, November 14.
The report was filed on Friday last week, the last day of the incident, for Korea Joongang Daily.
Police said they had not yet confirmed whether the woman had returned to Japan. Investigators intend to interview Jungkook to establish all the facts of the case and determine the appropriate charges.
The identity of the Japanese woman has not been made public.
The recent incident marked another alarming addition to an increasingly disturbing trend of security breaches at Jungkook’s home since he was discharged from mandatory military service in June 2025. Over the past five months, the BTS member has become the repeated target of individuals attempting unauthorized entry into his residence.
The first incident occurred on the same day Jungkook completed his 18-month military enlistment. A Chinese woman in her 30s was arrested around 11.20pm after attempting to enter the residence by repeatedly trying different passwords at the front door. She was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted housebreaking and was subsequently referred to the prosecutor’s office for investigation.
During interrogation, the woman said she went to South Korea specifically to see Jungkook after his military discharge. However, prosecutors in Seoul’s Western District later granted the woman a stay of prosecution, meaning the charges against her were dropped. It was later reported that she had already flown back to her home country Yonhap News.
Another security breach occurred when a woman in her 40s was arrested for trespassing in the underground parking lot of Jungkook’s residence on August 30. According to witnesses and police reports, he followed a vehicle through the entrance, wandered around the building and attempted to flee when authorities arrived. The woman gave officers a confusing explanation, claiming she had entered because it was “a friend’s house”.
Jungkook revealed during a live broadcast on Weverse to celebrate his birthday on September 1 that he personally witnessed the parking lot incident unfold on closed-circuit television.
“I watched everything from home. When the police arrived, she tried to escape from the underground car park in panic,” he said.
Expressing his frustration, the 28-year-old artist criticized the invasion of privacy issuing a stark warning to any potential intruders.
