Japanese actress Meiko Nakao has tragically died at the age of 29, China Press reported. The cause of death has not been officially confirmed. Her dear friend and fellow actress, Hibari Hijiri, shared the news, expressing her shock and grief.
Sharing a photo together from previous times, Hibari wrote: “You went on a long journey and fell asleep, never to wake again.”
Hibari described Meiko Nakao as a younger sister-like figure, recalling how they often met in person or talked on the phone. In recent months, however, their contacts had decreased due to numerous commitments. Hibari expressed deep regret, wishing she had paid more attention to her friend.
“You were such an important friend to me. I truly loved and cherished you. If I had noticed earlier, perhaps this tragedy would not have happened. I am truly sorry. May you rest in peace.” Hibari wrote.
Hibari also said she noticed signs of emotional instability in Nakao when they were closer. After Nakao joined a new management company, their contacts became limited, mostly following each other’s online posts.

However, since Nakao had been inactive on social media for several years, Hibari decided to speak out to ensure her friend was not forgotten.
His last post on X was in July 2023, in which he mentioned problems with Apple Music, reflecting his limited social media presence in recent years.
Ettoday reported that media expert Ichiken Kanshunshu speculated that Nakao may have struggled with mental health issues, which could lead to his untimely death. Kanshunshu highlighted the importance of emotional well-being and stability for actresses in the entertainment industry.
“It is crucial to support the mental health of actresses. I hope Meiko Nakao finds peace,” he said.
Born in 1996, Meiko Nakao began her career as an adult film actress in 2015 under the stage name Aoyagi Hinata, later changing it to NOA. In 2017, she moved to a management company and began working under her real name. Known for her striking looks and balanced facial features, Nakao rarely posted on social media, with her last post on X in July 2023.
His sudden passing has deeply affected friends, fans and colleagues, highlighting the pressures and challenges faced by performers in the adult entertainment industry.
