Jae Reacts to Being ‘Cancelled’ from DAY6: ‘I Gave Up My Career in Korea for the Team’

Former DAY6 member Jae has spoken openly about his true feelings after leaving the group, confessing the pain he felt when he was “erased” by the band despite his contributions.

On September 12, idol singer Jae appeared as a guest on the popular American radio show “Zach Sang Show”.

Here, he took stock of his recent situation and recalled his past as an original member of JYP Entertainment’s K-pop rock band, DAY6.

Of the questions he was asked, the one that caught viewers’ attention the most was how he felt when his previous team released the EP “Fourever” in March.

This is the first album released by the group about 3 years after completing their military enlistment, celebrating their reunion as a four-member band.

As the fifth member, Jae revealed his pain and said:

“Can I be really honest? It hurt a little bit. I understand that it’s like they did all this analysis and history behind it, but in my head, it’s hard for me to watch anything from DAY6 just because it reminds me of so many things.

For a long time, it was hard for me to even go back to Korea because every time I landed I had this feeling of anxiety and uneasiness, and I don’t know what it was.”

Although Jae made it clear that he understood the members’ reasoning, his initial reaction was one of frustration, as he said:

“I felt like someone was trying to erase me from (DAY6) history and it hurts because I literally gave up my career in Korea for that team.”

He explained further:

“Now that I’m gone, they’re trying to erase all of that. But I get it. I feel like there was never any closure for them on that side and it’s not for the members, it’s more for the label, and if that’s the closure they need then I guess, so be it. But it’s still going to hurt a little bit.”
