Aside from Starship Entertainment’s alleged lack of promotion, IVE’s new English song and music video have been criticized for their low quality.
On November 8, Starship Entertainment surprisingly released the official sound source and music video for IVE’s new song, “Supernova Love.” An extended mix was also created, in collaboration with French DJ and record producer David Guetta.
The group initially released their latest single in September during the “Show What I Have” tour. At that time, fans expressed their joy over the unreleased song and hoped that the team would officially release it in the music market.
After about two months, the sextet finally listened to the wish of their fandom, DIVEs, and officially unveiled the song, with the bonus that also included David Guetta, a well-known international artist.
Indeed, the track ate and did not disappoint as the six members showed off lovely vocals that fit their concept very well, as well as some solid background music. Surprisingly, the track also exceeded the 3-minute duration, deviating from the 2-minute trending songs in K-pop, which earned applause from supporters.
However, DIVEs couldn’t be entirely happy with the sudden return after seeing his MV, as fans pointed out various issues rooted in it.
First, the fandom complained about its rushed quality, making it seem “cheap” according to reviews. Secondly, even though this is a “surprise” drop, fans have complained that Starship’s marketing team made no effort to tease the collaboration on SNS, causing slow engagement with MV.
Finally, although it was originally over 3 minutes long, DIVE raised eyebrows when the label cut over 40 seconds from the song to fit the trending 2 minute length.

Critical comments about Starship have poured in on YouTube such as:
- “Starship, why don’t you promote this masterpiece?”
- “Starship, what do you think? You have a golden band with IVE and you continue to waste their potential with lack of promotion. It’s unacceptable that songs like ‘Supernova Love’ go unnoticed just because you don’t make an effort to push them. ‘Supernova Love ‘, a gem of a song!”
- “Seriously, even though Starship’s marketing team is so bizarre that this song didn’t even get a promotional Twitter post or even an announcement, this masterpiece deserved so much more.”
