In a tragic accident on October 30, KST, a primary school student, “A,” died after being hit by a garbage truck while she was walking home from school. The truck unexpectedly reversed and went up the sidewalk of an apartment complex and struck the seven-year-old. The accident occurred in Gwangju’s Buk-gu district.
The grieving family held his memorial service on October 31. Her uncle shared a bittersweet anecdote about his niece’s love for IVE. He recalled that “A” was an ardent collector of IVE photo cards, and that the two even intended to go see the group live at a concert. But he regretted it in tears, “It breaks my heart that I couldn’t keep that promise.”
The story reached IVE and the members joined in with a heartfelt gesture. The group sent a wreath of condolences to their little fan’s memorial site with a message praying for her peace. The child’s mother, moved by this gesture, thanked the group saying: “Even though we are overwhelmed with grief, we are grateful.”
Meanwhile, the incident is still under police investigation. The driver of the truck, a man in his forties, was arrested. Investigations are underway to verify whether traffic regulations were violated in the accident.
