Singer IU continued her annual tradition of giving back during the holidays, this time donating 500 million won (~$340,000) to eight charities and hospitals.
IU’s generous contribution was made on behalf of fans under “IUaena”, a combination of her stage name and her fan club Uaena, as announced by her agency EDAM Entertainment on the 25th.
The donation will benefit organizations such as Seoul Asan Medical Center, Seoul Child Welfare Association, Warm Accompaniment and Together Smiling World.
Asan Medical Center supports seniors with financial difficulties, cancer patients and those suffering from cardiovascular diseases.
The Seoul Child Welfare Association helps parentless young adults find their place in society, while other donation recipients, including With World, help improve the living conditions of people living in basement and one-room homes.
IU is known for her frequent and copious donations to charities, including a donation of 225 million won (~$150,000) in September to celebrate the 16th anniversary of her debut album, also on behalf of her fans.
The singer also recently prepared free meals and hand warmers for protesters calling for the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol after the politician enacted martial law.
