IU sends money in response to the SNS request, only to discover that it was a scam

On November 15, during the broadcast of tvN’s “Free Doctor,” it was shared that IU, known for her love for fans, had stopped checking SNS messages.

According to an entertainment reporter, IU had previously received messages from strangers asking for financial help. These requests often involved people who said they were struggling with hospital bills, college tuition or loan debt. One netizen in particular, who pretended to be a fan, sent IU a detailed and emotional story, asking for help. Over the course of several months, the individual continued to send messages asking for money. Moved by the heartfelt request, IU finally relented and transferred a sum of money to assist.

However, the situation took a turn when the same person continued to request more funds. It was then that IU began to feel that something was wrong and, upon further investigation, realized that she had fallen victim to a scam. The account had been changed to another and she was deeply hurt.

Since then, IU has decided to stop checking her SNS messages to avoid future encounters with such deceptive requests. Although she was hurt by this personal experience, she continued to give consistently, leaving a touching impression.
