IU and Byeon Woo Seok Shine in Script Reading for Upcoming Drama ‘Perfect Crown’

Set to premiere in April 2026 on MBC, Perfect Crown is a love story set in a fictional 21st century constitutional monarchy in Korea. It follows the shocking story of a powerful, status-conscious heiress annoyed by her status as a commoner, and a prince who, despite his royal bloodline, owns nothing else. Their journey is one of romance, rebellion and rewriting the social hierarchy.

With a star-studded lineup including IU (as Sung Hee-joo), Byeon Woo Seok (as Prince Yi Ahn), Noh Sang Hyun (as Prime Minister Min Jeong-woo), and Gong Seung Yeon (as Queen Dowager Yoon Yi-rang), the drama has already become one of the hottest projects of the year.

Director Park Joon Hwa and writer Yoo Ji Won joined the main cast during the script reading. The atmosphere was vibrant, with passionate energy and lively laughter. Byeon Woo Seok played Prince Yi Ahn matter-of-factly, using his deep tone and composed demeanor to reflect the dignity of the royal family. His emotional change after meeting Sung Hee-joo offered a glimpse into the prince’s internal transformation.

The chemistry between IU and Byeon Woo Seok was undeniable. Their eye contact and pacing during scenes created palpable tension and fascination, igniting anticipation for their onscreen romance.

Noh Sang Hyun added energy to the reading as Prime Minister Min Jeong-woo. He shared a natural camaraderie with IU as former schoolmates and showed a trusting bond with Byeon Woo Seok’s character, suggesting dynamic relationships within the drama.
