Previewed global preview on October 3, right before Chuseok, the fantasy romantic comedy Genie, expresses a desire It tells the story of a genius named Jinn (played by Kim Woo-Bin), who wakes up after a thousand years just to meet Ka-Young (played by Suzy), a human devoid of emotions. Their meeting triggered a dangerous but electrifying bet on three desires, with the naivety of Jinn for the human world that clashes with the chilling indifference of Ka-Young.
The teaser poster captures their bizarre relationship in the middle of a gold desert storm, Jinn threatens the life of his new teacher, while Ka-Young reiterates with a sharp fork in the throat. Their penetrating looks and the electrifying tension raise questions on the fact that they will destroy or fall into an extraordinary link.
The teaser trailer, introduced by the voice of the character Sayyid (Ko Kyu-Pil), highlights the outrageous dynamics between the “diabolical” genius and his “psychopathic” master. Jinn incessantly implores Ka-Young to express his desires- “Hurry up, I wish quickly, I wish now!” – but she refuses it, declaring courageously, “My first desire? Kill yourself.” Despite his resistance, Jinn must corrupt Ka-Young through desires to satisfy his dark fate. If he can break through his emptiness wall, the central mystery remains.
Curiously, the trailer also reveals contrasting glimpses of Ka-Young-sometimes by pouring tears, other times they irradiate joy-which hints at emotional awakenings. In the meantime, the breathtaking strokes of Jinn and Ka-Young impose themselves above Soul promise a love story both exciting and fantastic, unlike anything seen before.
