For nearly two decades in the spotlight, Daesung (BIGBANG) has been dubbed Kpop’s “eternal single.” While fans of other idols hope their favorites avoid dating rumors, Daesung’s fans have long wanted news of him dating or getting married.
Recently, the topic of Daesung’s love life came back into focus during a conversation with CL (2NE1) in a new episode of “ZIP Daesung.” CL asked him directly, “Are you in a relationship?” The BIGBANG member quickly responded, “I’m not, but… I want to get married before I’m 40” which immediately piqued CL’s curiosity.
The 2NE1 leader teased Daesung, saying he still has plenty of time to make it happen. Daesung, however, appeared agitated and replied: “But I need to start planning… I mean, not planning things. That’s not what I mean.” He quickly regained his composure and stated firmly“If I say I’m going to get married before I’m 40, I will! Nobody stops me, nobody!”
At 35, Daesung has five more years to fulfill this plan. CL advised her senior to go out more often to increase his chances of meeting someone and achieve his goal of getting married before he turns 40.
This funny exchange left the production crew and fans speechless. Born in 1989, Daesung debuted with BIGBANG in 2006 as the group’s lead vocalist. Over the course of his career, he has earned a reputation as a “long-time bachelor.” He has not had a public girlfriend nor been involved in rumors of dating or intimate moments with women, making him immune to the Dispatch’s infamous affair reports.
In fact, every time Dispatch unveils a new celebrity couple, Daesung’s name is inevitably mentioned by Asian netizens, almost like a running joke. Fans also jokingly beg Dispatch to find out some romantic news about Daesung to end his bachelorhood.
Now that he is 35 years old, many fans are eagerly waiting for Daesung to get married soon. Some even joke that they will throw a celebratory party the day he finally escapes the single life.
