On December 3, it was announced that the girl group “cosmos” will make their debut at the end of 2024. It is a 4-member girl group composed entirely of Japanese members, including a’mei, de_hana, himesha and kamión, and embracing the concept of “COSMOS of Youth”.
Notably, “cosmosy” is said to be a project that brings together global creators who were behind various K-pop stars, including the creative director who led BLACKPINK’s debut and worked on various other stars such as LE SSERAFIM, Red Velvet , IVE, IU, aespa and TXT.
The aforementioned director also shared the “cosmosia” on his Instagram, confirming his participation in the formation of the group.
However, despite “cosmosy” being formed by BLACKPINK’s creative director, K-netizens’ reactions towards the group have been cold, mainly due to the members’ Japanese nationality. These netizens compare the girl group to XG (another Japanese girl group with K-pop influences) and accuse them of trying to gain influence from K-pop and BLACKPINK.
