Many Asian stars lose public trust and become pariahs after being involved in cheating scandals. One such case is Haruna Kinoshitaformer member of NMB48. Once adored and destined to become a top star, Kinoshita destroyed her bright future when she was exposed for kidnapping the husband of her bandmate’s sister.
Born in 1998, Kinoshita entered the Japanese entertainment industry at just 12 years old. While his career was on the rise, scandal broke when Shukan Bunshun posted photos proving an affair between Kinoshita and “CEO A”, the husband of her groupmate Kanako Muro’s sister. At the time Kinoshita was only 17 years old but was already involved in the affair which sparked public outrage.
In the series of shocking photos, Haruna and CEO A were seen enjoying romantic moments at multiple locations and even checked into a high-end hotel together. Media sources reported that she had previously been seen near CEO A’s house.
At the height of the controversy, the entrepreneur’s wife wrote publicly on Kinoshita’s social media page: “If you keep cheating, go ahead and get me a divorce.” Kanako Muro added: “1 or 2 months ago my sister and her husband were still sweet together, but now everything suddenly became very strange.”
Following the scandal, the image of the sweet and cute idol Haruna Kinoshita collapsed. The public criticized her on all fronts. A few months after the scandal broke, he officially left NMB48.
Despite the fierce backlash, Kinoshita and CEO A still moved in together and got married in 2018. They had a son a year later. But the marriage didn’t last: in 2022 she changed her status on her social profile to “single mother”, confirming her divorce from CEO A after four years. At the same time, CEO A publicly posted intimate photos with another woman, showing no remorse towards his ex-wife Haruna.
After leaving the group due to the affair, Haruna Kinoshita he had no way back into show business. In March 2020, she launched her YouTube channel in hopes of a comeback, but failed to gain traction.
