MOVESof the declaration relating to information on BTS Jungkook‘S Super Bowl the appearance sparked great anger.
In late 2023, Jungkook released a collaborative version of his song “Standing Next To You” with Usher.
It was recently reported that Jungkook and Usher were scheduled to perform the song during the Super Bowl, but was turned down due to his military service, which began in December 2023.
BTS’ Jungkook turned down Super Bowl offer due to military service
Jungkook might have enlisted later, so fans thought that the company was trying to send all members to the army as soon as possible to shorten the group’s absence period. This meant that Jungkook fans started trending “HYBE Stop Sabotaging Jungkook” and “Jungkook Leave HYBE” in response to the news.

On October 9, following fan reaction, HYBE released a statement Ilgan Sports on the question, where they simply replied, “We have nothing to say.”
When the comment came out, netizens responded to the short statement, accusing the company of rejecting the offer without consulting Jungkook. They also accused them of limiting Jungkook’s potential, and many hoped he would leave the company.
- Even though I’m not a fan, it’s a real shame. The Super Bowl does not invite artists solely based on that year’s Billboard or Grammy results, nor solely based on their popularity at the time. It’s really all about timing. If the timing had aligned with the rise of his solo career, the synergy could have been huge.
- I hope HYBE fails completely.
- If Jungkook refused, they would hide behind him and spin him through the media game. But it was HYBE who didn’t tell Jungkook.
- Is HYBE not doing its job or just incompetent? Didn’t they claim to have a hundred employees exclusively dedicated to BTS? If a hundred people had messed up like that, I would have crashed a truck into their office. I’m from a different fandom, but as far as the Super Bowl goes, HYBE really screwed it up.
- Idiots~
- Get out of show business, seriously.
- I hope Jungkook leaves HYBE.
- I am speechless.
- A Korean artist performing on the Super Bowl stage would have been a great sensation, but HYBE seems like an agency more obsessed with positioning itself at the top rather than promoting its artists.
- Oh…
- They really can’t do their job… Ugh, what a waste of Jungkook’s potential.
- No agency likes it when an artist’s personal influence grows, haha. HYBE is following the same path. This is why I think it’s not a bad idea for idols to start their own agencies once they’ve been around for a few years.
There has been no statement from HYBE directly addressing the topic.
