The allegations pointed to a specific intern.
Netizens discussed their suspicions regarding MOVESthe way he treats a contestant on a survival show.
In June 2023, the survival program RU NEXT? introduced viewers to 22 talented trainees competing to debut as part of BE:LIFT Labs‘new girl group.
The show’s winning participants have since debuted as ILLIT, with many fan favorites failing to make it into the group.
One such trainee was Chanellenow known as FIFTY AND FIFTY‘S Chanel Luna.
Many wondered why Chanelle was eliminated from the show before the finale, as she often stood out for her vocal abilities. Recently, discussing a possible reason for its elimination has become a hot topic.
A netizen on a Korean forum shared a clip of one of the performances of one of the units formed during an episode. In the unit were Chanelle Moon, Himena, Seoyeon, ILLIT’s Wonhee, and Moka performing OH MY GIRL’s “5th Season”.
The post also included comments on the video denouncing the alleged editing of all members of the unit’s voice except Chanelle Moon, stating that only her voice could be heard wavering. The comments accused HYBE of editing another individual in the performance in an attempt to “push” them.
- “No, it’s too obvious that the company is pushing a specific member. Why make it so obvious? Does the company only promote that member? It’s not about stage presence or differences in ability; It’s just favoritism.
- “It’s a matter of survival, so the job should go to those who deserve it… but Moka kept applying and finally got the job after being rejected for a day. It seems strange to me.”
- “When it comes to survival, isn’t skill the priority? If the member doesn’t deserve it, why push them forward like this? It seems unfair.
- “At first they didn’t even think about debuting it. Other trainees with real skills were left out, and this member was simply pushed to the front. Why pretend it’s a “survival” show if the results are rigged from the start? It’s the fakest thing I’ve ever seen.”
- “How could Moka be considered weak when it already received special treatment? It seems their position was secured from the start.”
- “Why is there special treatment even in survival shows…?”
- “I heard the only guarantee was that they wouldn’t be eliminated…”
- “Some members don’t get special treatment, but others do and are even guaranteed a place. It’s frustrating. They worked so hard only to see favoritism at play. Ridiculous.”
- “2:53 – Moka would never have made it if it wasn’t for the support given. Even when they are weak, they are simply thrust into the spotlight. Even when they are criticized, they are saved from elimination… This is a very biased show.”
- “The only person who benefits from favoritism here is the one who receives special treatment.”
- “There are a lot of people who could do well without favoritism. This is frustrating because, honestly, those who are more qualified and deserving have to watch it.”
Chanelle has since debuted as a member of FIFTYFIFTY, but many netizens couldn’t help but comment on the situation, agreeing with the post.
- “This is the first time I’ve seen a survival show with such extreme editing RU NEXT?; I watched the whole thing, but it honestly wasn’t fun to watch.
- “The editing was also harmful towards Chanel. I was rooting for Chanel, but after she was eliminated, I stopped watching her.
- “When you watch the show, you can clearly tell which members are the agency’s favorites. They even modify them in a really favorable way.
- “Usually the editing gets done, but they overdid it with Wonhee and Moka.”
- “Wow, no wonder I only liked Chanel at the time. My eyes did not deceive me. You pathetic idiots at HYBE… ;;;;;”
